Andrew Newstead's Sport & Soft Tissue Therapy

About
About Me
As a Martial Arts practitioner and instructor, having started my own training journey over 20 years ago, I have always been interested in the abilities and capabilities of the human body. Always seeking to optimise efficiency and honing movement skills, martial arts and sports/exercise in general has been the path for so many to general good health. Having experienced many different sports from running to yoga, it has opened my eyes to the way in which people move, the variety of reasons for this, how injuries commonly occur and therefore how to prevent them as much as possible. Having started traditional Chinese Martial Arts at the age of 14 years old, it was routine to stretch and massage the body. Many of the elders within that community were massage therapists, osteopaths, acupuncturists and healers themselves, so it was a very natural, evolved path to follow.
Chinese Martial Arts encompasses both the yin and yang – a mind/body/breath connection which is incorporated into my treatments for a holistic approach. As a Martial Arts teacher, I have observed and understood how hands on adjustments can align the body to help and improve a student and this has helped inform my practice as a soft tissue therapist.
I trained at the highly regarded London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) to gain a Level 5 Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy.
The treatments I offer are suitable for most people – from professional sports people to the sports hobbyist and people who live more sedentary lives. Each treatment will be tailored to the individual and their needs, not a “one size fits all” set routine. I incorporate many different techniques including stretching the body if required and prescribing specific exercises to aid in recovery or improved mobility. I work with a wide range of clientele ranging from individuals to cooperation's to charities who have incorporated regular or a set of treatments into their own training programme to gain the best outcomes.
